EU, Thai experts to discuss potentials and challenges in the current landscape
Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok | 2 October 2023
The European Union and Thailand have had over 60 years of diplomatic relations and friendship. Throughout the years, the bilateral collaboration has expanded to sectors spanning trade, investment, sustainable development, climate change, culture and human rights advocacy. Last year, the strong EU-Thai ties culminated in the signing of a Partnership and Cooperation Agreement in December.
In looking at both past achievements and the path ahead, ‘The Prospects of EU-Thai Relations: The way forward under the new government’ — the sixth and last talk of the public forum series jointly hosted by the EU Delegation to Thailand (EUD) and think tank Institute of Security and International Studies (ISIS Thailand) — will be held on 2 October 2023 from 10.00 to 12.00 in the Chumbhot-Pantip Conference Room of 4th Prajadhipok-Rambhaibarni Building at Chulalongkorn University.
EU Ambassador to Thailand H.E. Mr David Daly and Spanish Ambassador to Thailand H.E. Mr Felipe de la Morena Casado will join Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, academics and experts to survey the ongoing shifts and potentials of EU-Thai relations, as both sides navigate global and regional challenges.
University students, researchers, academics, government officials, journalists, representatives of the private sector, diplomats, international organisations and foundations, and civil society organisations are expected to join in the discussion. All interested members of the public are welcome to attend the event, which will close with an open Q&A.
Pre-registration is required and available here. The deadline for registration is 29 September 2023 at 16.00 (GMT+7).
