EU-Vietnam green growth strategy media training

Halong City, Vietnam | 21-22 April 2022

More than 35 economic and environmental journalists and at least 65 journalism students will join a two-day media training session in Halong City from 21 to 22 April 2022.

Organised by the EU Delegation to Vietnam (EUD), the activity aims to deepen the European Union’s (EU) engagement with Vietnamese journalists, especially in relation to green economic development, the EU-Vietnam partnership and European Green Deal, through a series of presentations, Q&As and panel discussions.

Day one will kick off with opening remarks from European Union Ambassador to Vietnam, Giorgio Aliberti. The European Green Deal, Vietnam’s sustainable industries, and how the EU’s clean energy agenda can support sustainable development will be discussed over three sessions. Meanwhile, the day's final session will bring together journalists from the EU and Vietnam for a peer-to-peer discussion on best practices for environmental reporting.

Highlights from day two include sector presentations on clean energy and the circular economy, followed by a panel discussion ‘Can the European Green Deal build momentum for Vietnam’s Green Growth Strategy?’ involving senior representatives from the Vietnamese government, EUD, Global Green Growth Institute Vietnam and DEEP C Industrial Zones. Participants will also visit the zone, developed and operated by a Belgian firm, and learn about wastewater treatment and rooftop solar panel production.
