EU-ASEAN Bike45Ride for Sustainability

East Coast Park, SG | 3 December 2022

Set your alarms to head out with us bright and early as we peddle towards a sustainable tomorrow.

On 3 December 2022 from 7.30 to 9.30, South-East Asia’s commuters will take to the streets of Singapore for a bike rally to raise awareness of the impacts of traffic congestion on air quality in the region’s cities.

Cyclists will be joined by the Honourable Mr Baey Yam Keng, Senior Parliamentary Secretary of Singapore’s Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment and Ministry of Transport, along with EU and ASEAN Ambassadors and youth leaders, as they collectively seek to promote the many benefits of cycling as a key transport mode of the future.

People from all walks of life across the region are expected to turn out for this year’s EU-ASEAN Bike45Ride for Sustainability, which will start from East Coast Car Park F2 and end at Gardens by the Bay.

Organised by the EU Delegation to Singapore (EUD) in partnership with local charities and communities, the event comes at the heels of Climate Diplomacy Week, mobilising grassroots support for climate action called for in the European Green Deal, Team Europe’s Green Initiative in South-East Asia and EU-Singapore joint initiatives for sustainable transit, connectivity and public health.

The rally was inaugurated as a national event in 2018, and this year expands to include the broader ASEAN region in the spirit of international commitments made at COP 27.
