EU, ISIS Thailand to map foreign policy direction in aftermath of Thai election

Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok | 28 August 2023

Now months after the May 2023 elections in Thailand, regional and global stakeholders are eagerly watching to discern the new government's foreign policy trajectory.

Thai Foreign Policy Outlook under the Incoming Government: plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose?’ is the fifth talk of the public forum series jointly hosted by the EU Delegation to Thailand (EUD) and think tank Institute of Security and International Studies (ISIS Thailand). It

will seek to unpack the implications of Thailand’s recent electoral outcomes on its foreign policy direction, evaluate the prevailing dynamics and hypothesise the new government's potential foreign policy routes.

The forum, open to all members of the public, will be held at Chulalongkorn University on Monday, 28 August 2023 from 10.00 to 12.00 in the Political Science Alumni Conference Room of the Kasem-Udhayanin Building (12F).

Scholars of political science and international relations from Chulalongkorn University and Thammasat University, along with a former Thai Ambassador, will converge to explore the path ahead for Thailand’s prospective leadership within ASEAN, its stance on the Myanmar Crisis, disputes in the South China Sea and other pertinent issues.

As with previous talks, the dialogue seeks to engage students, researchers and academics, but also journalists, the private sector, CSOs and others, who can freely weigh in during the open forum.
