Study in Europe goes digital to reach more students across ASEAN
Nearly 250 universities from 22 EU countries participate in this year’s virtual fair in Singapore.
On 24 September 2022, the EU Delegation to Singapore (EUD) organised a virtual fair for Study in Europe, in collaboration with EU Member States. The one-day online event connected undergraduate and graduate students in Singapore and the wider region with universities in the EU, which feature a host of educational opportunities tailored to an expansive range of academic and career goals. Students and their parents enjoyed access to around 30 live webinars along with dedicated pages on universities, courses, and countries.
Resources from the fair remain available to the public, and have already had more than 15 000 hits. Information spans everything from application processes to student life, showcasing an abundance of courses conducted in English and various bond-free scholarships.
‘Our education fair, among the most popular ones in Singapore and well established in the region, reaches out to students as well as their parents, connecting them with universities and education specialists across Europe,’ stated H.E. Iwona Piórko, EU Ambassador to Singapore. ‘By going digital, we have expanded our footprint in the region while making information available for students and parents throughout the year.’
Study in Europe also highlights the EU’s flagship initiatives to promote academic and research cooperation. Erasmus+ enables university students to study or intern abroad, as a chance to broaden their horizons as they explore the cultures and insights of Europe. This year’s webinar titled ‘The Erasmus+ Journey’ offered a sneak peek into this exciting opportunity for an unparalleled experience.
For student exchanges within ASEAN, SHARE is an EU-ASEAN joint project that replicates the Erasmus+ model and has provided 400 scholarships to students throughout the region.
A webinar (‘How to do a funded PhD in Europe’) is also available to introduce the platform EURAXESS, which connects researchers, entrepreneurs, universities and businesses — an indispensable tool for graduate students advancing their studies in Europe.
