Film Festival showcases leading European cinema in Vietnam
The milestone event was held across four cities for the first time in 2020
Organised as part of the 30th Anniversary of the EU-Vietnam Diplomatic Relations, the milestone 20th European Film Festival showcased Europe's rich cinema heritage, diversified culture and contemporary creativity.
The festival, which took place from 20 November to 3 December 2020, was hosted with the support of 14 EU Member States (EUMS) and in partnership with cinemas in four cities: Hanoi, Hue, Ho Chi Minh City, and Can Tho. It featured 13 movies, including several national and award-winning international films, open to different audiences from children to adults.
The festival drew more than 8,400 visitors, reaching the cinemas’ full capacity in three cities. Giorgio Aliberti, Ambassador to the EU Delegation to Vietnam, and Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, opened the ceremonies. EUMS ambassadors and representatives from Italy, Bulgaria, Finland, Germany, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Republic of Ireland, Spain and Hungary also attended the multi-city event.
