Indo-Pacific cooperation tops agenda on Vietnamese TV
Prime-time show reinforces EU-Vietnam collaboration on sustainable growth, stability, and global challenges
The EU Delegation to Vietnam broadcast a 30-minute TV programme on 26 September 2021 to raise awareness of the strategy, the EU’s foreign policy objectives and the importance of EU-Vietnam partnerships in pursuing joint strategic interests.
“The EU Foreign Policy in Times of COVID-19: Explaining the EU’s Indo-Pacific Strategy & Partnerships with Vietnam” emphasised the EU’s cooperation to promote sustainable growth, stability and to address global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change.
Launched in 2021, the strategy is designed to foster a rules-based international order and an open and fair environment for trade and investment, tackling environmental challenges and supporting connectivity with the EU.
Vietnam is expected to play a crucial role in the evolving Indo-Pacific geopolitics, given its centrality in the region and increased responsibility in promoting region-wide consultations.
Meanwhile, EU-Vietnam relations have reached significant milestones at a bilateral level in recent years, as demonstrated by the 2019 EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement and the Investment Protection Agreement.
